Description
The John Kay Limited Edition incorporates elements of the Rickenbacker 381 he used in early Steppenwolf days with additions for active electronics and personalized appointments. The instrument features two HB-1's, Rickenbacker's designed humbucking pickup, active and passive modes, lead phase switch and a four position rotary switch which offers various combinations of single coil and humbucking pickup configurations. The guitar offers stereo and monaural outputs and includes unique appointments such as silver pickguard, Jetglo finish and silver nameplate. Professionally set up by Cream City Music with fresh strings & low action, so it plays & sounds amazing!
Cosmetic Condition: Various little nicks, chips, dents & dings; scratches & weather checking.
Neck: Slender profile maple neck with cream binding & black side-dots. Rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl triangle inlays. Frets show a tiny bit of wear, but have plenty of life in them. Vintage-style, Schaller Deluxe tuners are in perfect working condition. Black truss rod cover with silver Rickenbacker logo. 1 5/8" nut width; 24 3/4" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rods are in good working condition.
Body: Semi-hollow maple body with hand-carved arch top & back. Bound slash hole & checkered binding on the top & back. "R" tailpiece with six-saddle adjustable bridge. Split-level, silver plexi pickguard with John Kay signature & wolf logo. Guitar weighs 9 lbs 7.7 oz.
Electronics: Dual Rickenbacker HB-1 humbuckers. Master volume & tone controls. Rhythm & Lead pickup volume controls. 4-way rotary knob. 3-way pickup selector switch. 2-way lead phase switch. Mono & Stereo outputs. All electronics are in perfect working condition.
Case: Original, vintage-style case included along with some Ric paperwork. There is no COA.
