Very rare Style E mandolin featuring Brazilian rosewood back & sides. This superb instrument was just recently acquired from a private collection of nearly 40 rare & vintage Martin guitars, including tenors as well as mandolins, ukes & banjos. Professionally inspected & set up by the experts here at Cream City Music.
Cosmetic Condition: Marvelous condition considering it'll be turing 100 next year! Various nicks, dents & dings; scratches & some finish wear, but no cracks, breaks or repairs - stunning!
Neck: Mahogany neck with nicely aged cream binding & black side-dots. Ebony fingerboard with abalone inlays. Frets show some wear, but have plenty of life in them. Bound headstock with rosewood veneer & abalone floral inlay. Nickel strip tuners with ivoroid buttons & diamond volute. 1 1/8" nut width; 13" scale length.
Body: Bent, solid spruce top with abalone purfling. Oval soundhole with abalone rosette. Compensated bone saddle & tortoise pickguard. Nickel tailpiece with engraved cover. Solid Brazilian rosewood back & sides. Flat back with Herringbone center strip. Bound top & back. Mandolin weighs a delightful 1 lb 8.4 oz & projects like a cannon!
