Description
A gorgeous sounding mandolin with a rich, powerful voice. This beautiful Style A was just recently acquired from a private collection of nearly 40 rare & vintage Martin guitars, including tenors as well as mandolins, ukes & banjos. Professionally inspected & set up by the experts here at Cream City Music.
Cosmetic Condition: Pretty good shape actually considering it's just over 100 years old, but there are some signs of play wear & natural aging. Various nicks, chips, dents & dings; scratches & some finish wear. There's a crack on the bottom side of the body near the tailpiece & another crack on the top along the bass-side of the fretboard - both were professionally glued & cleated. There's an open crack underneath the pickguard & some minor binding repair on the bottom back of the body. Overall the mandolin looks good & has a nice patina.
Neck: Mahogany neck with ebony fingerboard & cream dot inlays. Frets are in great shape with hardly any wear. Brazilian rosewood headstock overlay. Open-gear strip tuners with ivoroid buttons. 1 3/16" nut width; 13" scale length.
Body: Bent, solid spruce top with oval soundhole & multi-ring rosette. Nickel tailpiece with compensated ebony bridge & tortoise pickguard. Solid mahogany back & sides. Mandolin weighs 1 lbs 5.4 oz.
Case: Modern hardshell case included.
