Description
A lovely sounding 0-15 with a sweet, darling tone. This war-era Martin is so much fun to play and exudes a shimmer & richness found only in a true vintage beauty such as this. A bit of a player's grade due to some structural issues & non-original parts, but all in all a really great guitar & the perfect travel companion or couch buddy.
Cosmetic Condition: How many 80-year olds do you know that can still turn heads? Ok, so this one's been around the block a few times & it clearly shows - various nicks, chips, dents & dings; scratches, weather checking & some finish wear. There's an unrepaired side crack on the lower bout, bass side & various other superficial/surface cracks throughout the guitar. There must have been some damage to the top edge, lower bout, treble side. There's a patch there that's a slightly different color shade to the rest of the guitar & there's a large cleat underneath. So what do we have here? A road warrior that's tried & true; a weather beaten roughneck with eight decades of history packed into it. Who knows, it might've even seen action in Europe or the Pacific. A real survivor that's not ready to retire & looking for a good home.
Neck: Soft, V-shaped mahogany neck with dark Brazilian rosewood fingerboard & cream dot inlays. Professionally refretted & frets are in great shape with only a tiny bit of wear & plenty of life in them. Tortoise headstock veneer & unoriginal tuners. 1 11/16" nut width; 24 3/4" scale length. Neck is straight & plays well up & down the fretboard.
Body: Solid mahogany top, back & sides. Unoriginal rosewood bridge, end pins & saddle. There are two filled holes in the bridge on either side of the saddle, but there are no holes through the guitar, and the original maple bridgeplate is intact. Original tortoise pickguard. There are no electronics & the guitar weighs a delightful 3 lbs 1.7 oz.
Case: Modern Guardian hardshell case included.
