Description
A vintage 1967 Marshall 1987T 50-Watt Tremolo tube amp head. This is the real deal--a bona fide, tube-rectified small-box Plexi. The amp features largely original circutry and original Drake transformers. As with many vintage Marshall Tremolo models, the trem circuit has been disconnected--making the circuitry identical to that of a Lead model. This mod can be easily reversed by re-connecting 2 wires. That said, the tremolo circuit changes the tone of the amp significantly, so most players prefer it out of circuit.
The amp has seen its share of use and maintenance--with quite a few replaced resistors, caps and a few other parts. The back panel is also missing, and the Marshall logo is a modern repro. Tone-wise, the amp is the embodiment of classic rock--with iconic Plexi crunch but also the warmth and roundness provided by the tube rectifier. As the final cherry on top we re-tubed the amp with a strong, well-matched set of original, vintage Mullard EL34s.
A true classic Marshall head--perfect for recording studios or serious players. This amp has been cleaned and serviced. It is fully functional and sounds absolutely fantastic.
