Description
What makes this guitar special: An interesting Gibson 'parts' guitar with a cool, player's grade vibe to it. The neck is from a late '60s SG based on the serial number & specs. Not sure about he body, however, but based on its condition it does appear to be rather old, perhaps from the '70s. It is not confirmed that the body is even a Gibson, but the neck connection was well done & the guitar plays nicely. A pair of newer Gibson Burst Buckers sound fantastic & really give the guitar a lot of punch.
Cosmetic Condition: Quite the road warrior with lots of wear & tear - various nicks, chips, dents & dings; scratches, weather checking & finish wear. The body has been heavily routed & the whole guitar refinished in black. The refin was done quite a long time ago. Overall the guitar has a great look to it & feels like a true vintage piece.
Neck: Chunky mahogany neck with nicely aged cream binding & black side-dots. Beautiful, dark rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl trapezoid inlays. Original frets show some wear, but have plenty of life in them. Unoriginal chrome tuners are in perfect working condition. 1 9/16" nut width; 24 3/4" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod functions.
Body: Solid mahogany Flying V body. Stopbar tailpiece & vintage Gibson ABR-1 bridge with nylon saddles. 3-ply white pickguard is in great shape with no cracks. Guitar weighs 6 lbs 14.3 oz.
Pickups: Gibson Burst Bucker humbuckers. Bridge - 8.21K ohms; Neck - 8.03K ohms. Dual volume & master tone control with black 'witch hat' knobs; 3-way toggle switch. Pots are newer Gibsons & all electronics are in perfect working condition.
Case: Gibson padded gig bag included.
