Description

What makes this guitar special? This is killer vintage hollow body bass with tons of tone and visual appeal. The Sunburst finish is still vibrant at 40 years old and between the gorgeous straight grains of the spruce underneath and finish checking, gives this bass a full dose of classic mojo. The toaster/staple-style pickups sound excellent in all three positions and are an excellent complement to the bass’s hollow body construction, outputting lots of warm and woody tone across the board. The round neck sports a slim nut width, so gaining mastery over it is almost effortless, especially with a good body/neck balance. Outfitted with finishing touches like double binding, a trapeze tailpiece, an adjustable rosewood bridge, and square tuning buttons give this classic piece the perfect amount of definition.

Condition: This bass is in very good condition overall. It does have various nicks, dings, dents, scratches, and some other normal wear and tear, but still looks fantastic for a 40-year-old instrument. The binding has a few small cracks but they do not penetrate all the way through. The headstock “Klira” logo has been repainted over the original finish. Due to the age of the instrument and the value of the capacitor in the tone circuit, the tone has very little throw/range. To keep everything original, we didn’t change anything, but it is possible to get a better response if the purchaser decides to replace it. The neck angle this bass was constructed with and the non-adjustable pickup heights also mean the action can only be taken so low and still clear the pickups and currently rests around 5/32” and clears up to the 15th fret on each string. The frets show only light wear and still have a ton of life left in them. The neck is comfortable and the truss rod functions.

Body: Double bound violin-shaped body with a spruce top and flame maple back and sides in Sunburst finish. Bound “cateye” sound holes. Adjustable floating rosewood bridge and nickel trapeze tailpiece. Chrome switch plate, knobs, and switch.

Neck: Medium round C shape maple neck and rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot inlays. Zero fret. 1 5/8” nut. Bound headstock. Open-gear nickel tuning machines.

Electronics: Toaster/staple-style single-coil pickups in the neck and bridge. 1 x volume, 1 x tone control. 3-way pickup selector.

Neck: 6.05k Ohms

Bridge: 6.02k Ohms

Weight: 4 lbs 14.7 oz

Playability/Sound: The neck on this bass is a bit smaller than a traditional bass width, making it that much easier to move around for players with smaller hands, or players who like have a larger reach over their instrument. The pickups sound fantastic and in combination with the hollow body construction, provide a ton of vintage vibe and warm, woody tone.

Case: Original hardshell case included.
