Cosmetic Condition: Marvelous condition for being nearly 40 years old - very clean with only some mild surface scratches. The natural finish has aged beautifully over the years & the binding had mellowed into more of a golden color. Overall the guitar looks terrific & shows off a gorgeous patina.
Neck: Slender profile maple neck with nicely aged 3-ply binding & black side-dots. Ebony fingerboard with mother of pearl & abalone block inlays. George Benson's name is in the 21st fret inlay. Frets are in great shape with practically no wear. 3-ply bound headstock with mother of pearl inlay & George Benson signature on the truss rod cover. Ibanez Smooth Tune II tuners with pearloid buttons in perfect working condition. 1 11/16" nut width, double layered with brass; 25" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod works perfectly.
Body: Single-cutaway, hollow body with bound F-holes. GB-10 brass tailpiece with tortoise inlays. Compensated ebony bridge with mother of pearl inlays. Spruce top with 5-ply binding. Maple sides & back with 3-ply binding. 5-ply bound tortoise pickguard; gold & brass hardware. Guitar weighs 7 lbs 5.6 oz.
