Description
Made for only a brief period from 1977 until around 1982, this first-year S 300-D features a resonant mahogany body loaded with a pair of muscular yet dynamic sounding DiMarzio humbuckers that kick out monstrous tones. Fully inspected & professionally set up ready to play straight out of the case.
Cosmetic Condition: Lots of good honest play wear - various nicks, chips, dents & dings; scratches & some finish wear. Overall the guitar has a really cool look to it with an authentic vintage vibe & nice patina.
Neck: Slender mahogany neck with cream side-dots. Ebony fingerboard with mother of pearl dot inlays. Professionally refretted & the frets are in great shape with hardly any wear. Mother of pearl Guild & Chesterfield headstock inlays. Guild diecast tuners are currently on the guitar, but it previously had different tuners as evidenced by the additional screw holes. 1 5/8" nut width; 24 3/4" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod works fine.
Body: Contoured, solid mahogany body with 5-ply small black pickguard. Stop tailpiece & adjustable bridge with roller saddles. Guitar weighs 7 lbs 5.7 oz. Great weight & exceptionally resonant!
Electronics: The guitar came to us with unoriginal pickups so we replaced them with DiMarzio PAF & Super Distortion humbuckers, which were what the guitar would've originally had from the factory. Dual volume & tone controls with original Guild knobs. 3-way pickup toggle & 2-way phase switch for reversing pickup polarity. Pots date to '74, however, both volume pots & the phase switch have been swapped out for newer ones because they were beginning to lose reliability, but they are all included with the guitar.
Case: Original hardshell case included.
