Description
A very early (second year of production) B-50 all-acoustic bass made in Westerly, RI. Featuring a solid spruce top with mahogany sides & back, which is arched. The sound of this true vintage beauty definitely mimicks its visual appearance - big, boomy & very powerful. A really rich, robust voice from a bass that's super fun to play. Professionally set up & ready to perform straight out of the case.
Cosmetic Condition: Used, but not abused, with typical play wear for its age - various little nicks, chips, dents & dings; scratches & weather checking. No cracks, breaks or repairs.
Neck: Comfortable mahogany neck with cream side-dots. Rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl dot inlays. Frets are in greats shape with no wear. Mother of pearl Guild & Chesterfield headstock inlays. Schaller open-gear tuners are in perfect working condition. 1 5/8" nut width; 31" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod works fine.
Body: Solid spruce top with multi-layer binding. Rosewood bridge with split saddles & cream bridge pins. Tortoise pickguard & multi-ring rosette. Mahogany back & sides with arched back & single-ply binding. The back actually shows off a tiny bit of flame figuring.
18" lower bout width; 13" upper bout width; 6 3/4" depth. There are no electronics & the bass weighs 7 lbs 5 oz.
Case: Original hardshell case included along with the original owner's manual.
