Description

What makes this guitar special: This is a wonderfully resonant vintage Gretsch archtop that still has a ton of life left in it. Its finish checking and Sunburst finish give it a timeless look that aptly depicts its tenured tone as well. It has excellent inherent warmth that starts in a compressed low end, moves through a lively and punchy midrange, and up into a sweet top end that still boasts quite a bit of clarity without being too bright. Despite the binding pulling here and there, its still in great shape considering it’s over half a century old, and it plays and sounds even better. It even comes with its original hardshell case and our techs will give it a pro setup before it ships out so it maintains great playability as long as possible.

Condition: This guitar is in good condition overall. It does show various nicks, dings, dents, scratches, finish chips and checking, and other forms of light wear throughout, but is still in good shape for its age. Around 30% of the binding is separating in some fashion. The headstock is delaminating between the middle two pieces of the 4-piece neck but seems stable and does not affect playability. The pickguard has gassed a little bit, giving it a textured feel, but has still largely retained its size and shape. The case is only in good condition. It holds together but the straps that hold the case open are starting to go and the exterior is starting to peel away from the wood.

Body: Double bound archtop body with a spruce top and rock maple back and sides in Sunburst finish. Raised tortoise pickguard. Adjustable rosewood bridge. Gretsch-etched trapeze tailpiece.

Neck: Medium depth C shape neck and rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays. 3-per-side open-gear tuning machines. 1 11/16” nut width. .90” deep at the 1st fret and 1.50” deep at the 12th.

Weight: 5 lbs 5.6 oz

Playability/Sound: The neck has a nice full in-hand feel that still plays easily throughout. The body is incredibly resonant with a warm and compressed low end, punchy midrange and a sweet upper register.

Case: Includes original hardshell case.
