Description
100% original & just recently acquired from the original owner who kept the guitar in great shape over the years. In fact, it really hasn't been played in the past two decades & was pretty much in storage. The orange finish is so bold & vibrant - it looks simply fantastic! The DeArmonds sound incredible & deliver that classic Gretsch tone. Overall, a marvelous guitar & definite must-have for any serious collector or Gretsch afficionado.
Cosmetic Condition: Outstanding condition for its age & remarkably clean with very little play wear. Various minor nicks & dings; light surface scratches & weather checking; some mild finish wear along the neck. Overall the guitar looks fabulous considering it's over 60 years old!
Neck: Slender profile maple neck with some light flame figuring. Nicely aged cream binding with red side-dots. Beautiful Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl hump-block inlays. Frets show a tiny bit of wear, but have plenty of life in them. Bound headstock with mother of pearl Gretsch & Horseshoe inlay. Grover tuners work perfectly. 1 5/8" width brass nut; 24 3/4" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod works fine.
Body: Double-bound, hollow maple body with bound F-holes. Bigsby tremolo tailpiece with compensated bridge on a floating rosewood base. Gold pickguard with Chet Atkins signpost signature. Guitar weighs a delightful 6 lbs 9.6 oz.
Electronics: DeArmond single coils with tortoise under-bezels & 3-way toggle switch. Master volume & tone controls; individual pickup volume controls all with "G" Arrow knobs. All electronics are in good working condition.
Case: Original hardshell "cowboy" case included. The case shows some wear & tear, but has held up well over the years.
