Description

What makes this guitar special:  A gorgeous piece of Gibson history that could very sell be over 100 years old.  The unique bass-side scroll on the body & super chunky mahogany neck really make the guitar stand out.  Not to mention the fact that it's actually very playable!  It looks fragile, but don't let that fool you - it's quite a hardy instrument with a marvelous tone - very bright & snappy with lots of punch!  Professionally set up by our own luthier with fresh strings & low action, so it plays & sounds fantastic!

Cosmetic Condition:  Really great shape considering its age - there are various nicks, chips, dents & dings; surface scratches & some finish wear throughout the guitar.  The inside label is well worn & no longer legible, making it a bit difficult to pinpoint the exact year of the guitar.  There are a few top cracks in the treble side of the body that were professionally repaired quite a long time ago & are all very stable now.  There's an unrepaired crack in the top along the treble side of the fingerboard, but again is sort of a non-issue because it's also quite stable with no movement when pressure is applied.  There are small areas on the bottom side of the rims that separated slightly from the back due to shrinkage over the years, but this is quite common on guitars from this era.  A small section of headstock binding is missing as is the neck heel cap.  All in all the guitar has a wonderful look to it with an immense amount of charm & character unique to this piece, not to mention the gorgeous patina throughout the entire instrument.

Neck:  Super beefy, V-shaped mahogany neck with ivoroid binding & tortoise side dots.  Ebony fingerboard with mother of pearl dot inlays.  Original frets show some wear, but have plenty of life in them.  Bound headstock with The Gibson & Fleur de Lis abalone inlays.  Original open-back strip tuners are in good working condition.  1 7/8" nut width; 25" scale length.  Neck is straight & plays great up & down the fretboard.

Body:  Hand-carved, solid spruce top with bass-side scroll & ivoroid binding.  Unoriginal trapeze tailpiece made in Germany (possibly Schaller).  Ebony bridge & no pickguard.  In fact this particular version of the Style O did not come with a pickguard, other versions did however.  Bound oval soundhole with diamond & herringbone rosette.  Birch back & sides with ivoroid binding.  There's some lovely grain patterns in the back with nice variegation in the wood.  Arched top & back; guitar weighs 4 lbs 12.7 oz.  There is no pickup or end pin.

Case:  Original hardshell case included.  The case is pretty rough rough actually, but still serves its purpose well.
