Description
A true vintage beauty with an ultra cool vibe & gorgeous tone. This stunning Hummingbird exudes '60s cool, delivering a warm, rich tone with a mellow sweetness that just cannot be replicated with any custom shop. It's quite clear why the Hummingbird was the Stones' go-to acoustic & can be heard on countless tracks over the decades. Professionally inspected & set up by the experts here at Cream City Music, so it's ready to play upon arrival.
Cosmetic Condition: Really nice condition for being over 50 years old with good honest play wear - various nicks, chips, dents & dings; scratches, weather checking & some minor pickguard shrinkage/lifting. There was some minor seam separation down the center of the top just behind the bridge that was professionally glued & cleated. Overall the guitar looks marvelous & has a beautiful patina.
Neck: Mahogany neck with nicely aged cream binding & tortoise side-dots. Rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl double parallelogram inlays. Frets show some wear, but have plenty of life in them. Portions of the Gibson headstock logo & Holly inlay have eroded. Gibson-branded Schaller tuners are in perfect working condition. 1 11/16" nut width; 25 1/2" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod works fine.
Body: Solid spruce top finished in Cherry Sunburst with 7-ply binding. Rosewood bridge & adjustable saddle with cream end pins. Large tortoise pickguard with Hummingbird motif. Some of the painting has worn off over the years, but most of it is still quite prevalent. Solid mahogany back & sides with colorful geometric center strip. The mahogany shows off some rather pretty flame figuring throughout making it quite unique indeed. There are no electronics & the guitar weighs 5 lbs 2.1 oz.
Case: Unoriginal hardshell case included.
