Description
A rare vintage 1963 Fender Vibroverb tube combo amp. Manufactured only in late 1963 and early 1964, the blackface Vibroverb is one of the rarest Fender amplifiers. Stevie Ray Vaughn's preferred amp, the 1x15 Vibroverb is considered by many to be a 'holy grail' of tone.
This example is in nice shape overall and is all original aside from some minor maintenance changes. There is a minor grill cloth tear, some minor tolex blemishes, and some flaking on the face plate. Circuit-wise, all of the electrolytic capacitors have been replaced, but all of the original signal-carrying capacitors and Allen Bradley carbon comp resistors remain. All transformers are original as well. While the JBL D130F is likely the original speaker, it's impossible to accurately date JBL speakers from this era, so we can't be 100% certain it's a factory-installed original.
Sound-wise, this amp is everything you'd expect from from the king of blackface Fender amps. It has massive bottom end and sparkly, extended highs thanks to its 15" JBL. As you turn up the volume, its perfect clean tone transitions into the classic blackface mid-gain growl. Ideal for any serious player, studio or vintage amp collection. This amp has been cleaned and serviced it is fully functional and sounds absolutely fantastic. Includes replacement footswitch.
