Description
Just recently acquired from the original owner, this lovely Electric XII is one of the last guitars designed by Leo for Fender, post CBS acquisition, but prior to his departure from the company. The specially voiced pickups in tandem with individually adjustable bridge saddles made this a favorite amongst musicians of the era. Used extensively by Pete Townshend on the Tommy album & famously on the studio recording of Led Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven. A dynamite player with an ultra cool vintage vibe & a smooth, comfortable feel. Professionally set up with fresh strings & low action so it's ready to play straight out of the case.
Cosmetic Condition: Various nicks, chips, dents & dings; scratches, weather checking & some finish wear. Overall the guitar has a wonderful look to it with a gorgeous patina.
Neck: Maple neck with rosewood fingerboard & mother of pearl dot inlays. Frets show some wear, but have plenty of life in them. "Hockey stick" headstock with Fender F-logo tuners. 1 5/8" nut width; 25 1/2" scale length. The nut is a replacement, but the original is included with the guitar. Neck is straight & truss rod works perfectly. Neck stamp reads 12 MAR 66 B.
Body: Contoured, solid alder body finished in 3-tone sunburst. String-thru bridge with twelve adjustable mini "barrel" saddles. 4-ply tortoise pickguard. Guitar weighs 8 lbs 10.1 oz.
Electronics: Grey bottom split single coils with 4-way selector switch. Pots date to '66 & all electronics are in perfect working condition.
Case: Original hardshell case included. The case shows some wear & tear, but is holding up well.
