Description
We've had lots of Cortez's over the years, but none that match the tone & playability of this one - a true vintage beauty with a magic touch & an absolutely gorgeous voice - robust & powerful sounding with amazing projection from such a small body. Compact guitars are very popular right now & this FT-45 has just the right look, feel & sound. Professionally set up & ready to play straight out of the case.
Cosmetic Condition: This was definitely someone's go-to guitar & it shows, with lots of good, honest play wear - various nicks, chips, dents & dings; scratches, weather checking & some finish wear. There are three repaired cracks on the back of the body, which are completely stable, however, there are indentations in the wood in those areas. Overall the guitar has a great look to it with an ultra cool, true vintage vibe & beautiful patina.
Neck: Slender profile mahogany neck with cream side-dots. Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl dot inlays. Frets show a tiny bit of wear & have plenty of life in them. Kluson Deluxe strip tuners work great. 1 11/16" nut width; 24 3/4" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod works fine.
Body: Solid spruce top in sunburst finish with 3-ply binding. Rosewood bridge with mother of pearl dot inlays. Tortoise pickguard with silver "E" emblem & 3-ply rosette. Soid mahogany back & sides with cream binding. The serial number on the blue label reads A-2928, which dates from 1959 to 1960. There are no electronics & the guitar weighs a delightful 4 lbs 0.2 oz.
Case: Vintage chipboard case included. The original handle broke (which is inside the case), so there's just some leather ties for the current handle.
