Description
Well here's something you don't come across very often - a rare, vintage B.C. B-30 dreadnought acoustic guitar featuring a jaw-dropping quilted maple body. Not entirely sure of the exact date of manufacture, but according to the VG guide, these were produced between 1967 & 1982, so quite a long time apparently. Professionally set up with fresh strings & low action, so it's ready to play straight out of the case.
Cosmetic Condition: Various nicks, chips, dents & dings; scratches & plenty of weather checking. There's a crack in the top between the soundhole & treble side of the neck that was glued. The neck was reset & additional blocks were added. Overall the guitar has a cool look to it with an authentic vintage vibe & beautiful patina.
Neck: Chunky mahogany neck with nicely aged white binding. Ebony fingerboard with mother of pearl diamond inlays. Frets show a bit of wear, but have plenty of life in them. Bound headstock with rosewood veneer & abalone "R" inlay. Gold Schaller tuners are stamped Made In W. Germany. 1 11/16" nut width; 25.4" scale length. Neck is straight & plays well.
Body: Double-bound, square should dreadnought in natural finish. Solid spruce top with herringbone purfling. Tortoise pickguard & herringbone rosette. Ebony bridge with mother of pearl diamond inlays. There's an extra hole in the middle of bridge just behind the end pins. Solid quilted maple back & sides with herringbone center strip. There are no electronics & the guitar weighs 4 lbs 11.8 oz.
Case: Vintage hardshell case included - appears to be an old Guild case.
