Description
What makes this banjo special: This is a great vintage banjo with some traditional charm in both look and tone. Aesthetically, it features matching wooden inlays around the resonator, rim, and back that give it a defined and classic look. In terms of functionality, everything is still in pretty great shape considering the age and the tuning machines, bridge, tailpiece, and pot assembly all still function just fine. It doesn’t play as well as it likely used to but regardless is still a cool vintage piece.
Condition: This banjo is in good condition overall. Cosmetically, it’s still in great shape, as it shows only small marks here and there from dings, dents, and scratches to hardware tarnish and chips, but is otherwise still in solid shape for a vintage banjo. In terms of playability, it has a limited ability to be adjusted so the action is a bit high but in the right hands could likely be lowered and made more playable. The bridge, tailpiece, and pot assembly is all in good working shape.
Body: Double-bound closed-back/wooden resonator with block inlays. Coated flange and wooden rim with resonator-matching inlays. Loop-end tailpiece. Wooden bridge. Suspended arm rest.
Neck: U/boat-shaped 3-piece neck and bound fingerboard with split diamond and dot inlays. Friction tuning machines with grained ivoroid buttons.
Weight: 6.65 lbs
Playability/Sound: The neck is comfortable and easy to play but the action is a bit high due to its design. It has decent volume, a lot of warm plucky pop, and over overall resonance.
Case: No case included.
