Description
Condition: This is a great playing bass with very comfortable playability. There are scratches, nicks, dings, dents and chips throughout the instrument. There are some surface scratches on the top that have given the finish a slightly “cloudy” appearance. On the bottom there is an area in which it appears the finish had a chemical reaction and partially “melted” (see photos). There is some buckle rash, nicks and dings throughout the back. There are some scuffs along some of the edges from play wear. There is a slight unevenness in the finish on the treble and bass side of the middle pickup likely caused by atmospheric changes; usually changes in humidity (see photos). Fingerboard and frets have moderate play wear and plenty of life left in them. The neck has a slight back bow that is most prominent on the treble side. The neck is still very comfortable to play up and down the fingerboard. The truss rod functions fine. The pots both date to 1983. We did not remove the neck as it stays very tightly in place and we did not want to disrupt the finish on or around the neck. The bass likely dates to 1983 or 1984 based on the serial number and pot codes. All electronics and parts are in perfect working condition.
Body: Solid contoured double-cutaway body in black finish. G&L bridge with four individual saddles, metal control plate finished in black with plastic control knobs with silver inserts.
Neck: Bolt-on maple neck with three-bolt plate and neck tilt adjustment. The neck tilt works great. Maple fingerboard with black dot inlays and a 1 11/16” nut. “Lawsuit” headstock with open-gear G&L tuners, 34” scale length.
Pickups/Electronics: G&L MFD single-coil pickups in the middle and bridge with master volume and tone controls and a 3-way selector switch.
Middle: 4.93K Ohms.
Bridge: 5.10K Ohms.

Playability/Sound: This is an all around great sounding bass. The pickups offer an exceptionally versatile sound that can cut through a mix or produce a very warm, “round” sound depending on how the controls are set. The neck is extremely comfortable and suitable for any playing style.
