Description
What makes this guitar special: Made for only a short period of time in the early '80s, the Sonex-180 models were quite unique in that the bodies were made from a material called Resonwood & manufactured with Multi-phonic body construction. The Multi-phonic body is composed of Resonwood surrounding an inner tone wood core, typically mahogany. The tone wood core not only acts as the anchor point for the neck, it also adds acoustic resonance and exceptional body resilience. The pair of Zebra Dirty Fingers humbuckers sound fantastic & kick out some dynamite tone. Professionally set up by our luthier so it plays & sounds great!
Cosmetic Condition: Cool vintage vibe with just the right wear - various nicks, chips, dents & dings; surface scratches & a couple of deeper scratches near the neck pocket. The white finish has aged nicely into more of cream color with nice variegation throughout. Aside from the top strap button the guitar is all original & in perfect working condition.
Neck: Slender profile maple neck with cream side-dots. Ebony fingerboard with mother of pearl dot inlays. Typical small frets are in great shape with very little wear. Chrome sealed tuners are in perfect working condition. 1 5/8" nut width; 24 3/4" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod is in good working condition.
Body: Single cutaway, Multi-phonic body construction - solid mahogany core with Resonwood coating. Stopbar tailpiece with Tune-O-Matic bridge. Two-ply (black/white) pickguard shows lots of pick wear, but is in great shape overall with no cracks. Guitar weighs 9 lbs 8.9 oz.
Pickups: Dirty Fingers Zebra humbuckers with black bezels. Bridge - 15.20K ohms; Neck - 15.48K ohms. Both pickups date to June 23, 1980. Dual volume & tone controls with black speed knobs; 3-way toggle switch with mini coil tap switch. All electronics are in good working condition.
Case: Unoriginal hardshell case included. The case is in similar condition to the guitar, but is missing a portion of the bottom latch.
