Description
What makes this guitar special: A terrific piece with great projection and warmth. This J-50 plays like a dream, and is in great shape for its age. The solid mahogany construction provides a beautiful midrange tone, with just enough high-end chime and low-end to round out the sound. Professionally inspected and setup by our top-notch in house luthiers, ready to play out of the case!
Cosmetic condition: Great shape for its age, with limited wear throughout. There are expected scratches, dents, dings, nicks, chips and scuffs throughout, with visible fretwear and finish checking. The string grommets are unoriginal, and there is a non-structural break in the finish at the neck heel. There was previously an electric preamp installed in the guitar, which has since been removed, however, the endpin still houses a 1/4" jack. There is a single repaired area near this jack as well (see photos). The top shows two gouges in the finish, and the pickguard is unoriginal as well. In order to obtain optimal action, the neck will need to be reset. At present, the action sits at 9/64” on the bass side and 8/64” on the treble side. The D-string tuner is bent in, but functions fine. The back of the headstock is branded “Second,” meaning this one was originally a factory second.
Body: Double bound solid mahogany back & sides with solid spruce top in natural finish. Unoriginal tortoise pickguard and rosewood bridge with black bridge pins. Multi-ring rosette with matching purfling.
Weight: 4 lb, 10.8 oz
Neck: 3-piece maple neck with aged white side dots and pearl dot inlays. 1 11/16” nut width, 24 3/4” scale length. Black headstock overlay with gold Gibson logo. Original Gibson tuners with unoriginal grommets. Rosewood fingerboard is in great shape, and while frets show wear, they still have some life in them.
Case: Original hard shell case included.
