What’s special about this guitar: This is a great playing 1980 Fender Strat that has a great vintage feel and look! This guitar features vintage grey bottom Fender single coil pickups, maple neck and fingerboard with a large 70s headstock and a hardtail bridge. The finish has been through a lot and has tons of weather checking with many areas of the finish chipping away. Due to the way the finish has worn, there is a layer of blue showing through in some areas which actually gives the guitar a rather unique look. The pickups sound fantastic and this guitar has a great transfer of vibration and sound through the neck and body resulting in a nice ringing sustain.
Condition: Great playing shape with plenty of cosmetic wear. There is heavy weather checking throughout the body with many areas of the finish peeling up and chipping off. That said a good portion of the finish has heavy weather checking but is not chipping away. The fingerboard and frets are in good shape with light play wear and plenty of life left in them. The neck is slightly over-bowed so it is almost too straight with the truss rod loosened all the way. The guitar is currently set up with .011 gauge strings and would play best with that or heavier. The truss rod and neck tilt adjustment screw function perfectly. The middle pickup is unoriginal to the guitar but is a period correct Fender replacement. All electronics and parts are in perfect working condition.
Body: Solid contoured body in black finish. Hardtail bridge with six individual saddles. Black skirted control knobs and a 3-ply black pickguard.
Neck: Nicely rounded and chunky maple neck with a skunk stripe down the back and a neck tilt adjustment screw at the neck heel. There is some subtle but lovely flame figuring throughout the neck. Maple fingerboard with black dot inlays and a 1 9/16” nut. Large 70s headstock with 70s tuners and a 25.5” scale length.
Pickups/Electronics: Fender grey bottom single-coil pickups in the neck, middle and bridge with master volume control, dual tone controls and a 5-way selector switch.
Neck: 5.65K Ohms.
Middle: 5.59K Ohms.
Bridge: 7.46K Ohms.
