Description
What makes this guitar special: Here’s one even the Custom Shop hasn’t tried to reproduce yet. A late 70’s/early 80’s P-bass with one of the most unique weather checking patterns and colorations we’ve ever seen! The black finish has color-morphed over the years across the front and sides into a navy blue, which looks absolutely stunning against the remaining black finish. It plays like an absolute beast, with stellar resonance and a medium profile maple neck that trends ever so slightly thicker as you near the upper register. This beauty is all original and comes professionally setup and inspected by our expert in-house luthier, ready to play out of the case.
Cosmetic condition: A great vintage vibe, with loads of playwear consistent with the age of the instrument. Various scratches, dents, nicks, dings, and scuffs throughout, with rampant finish checking throughout the entire instrument and finish chipping in a handful of areas due to the unique checking patterns. There is some scuffing on top of the headstock and the pads underneath the pickups have been glued to the bottoms. Overall, this one has a fantastic and unique vintage look to it, with a gorgeous patina.
Body: Contoured double cutaway alder body in black finish (faded to blue in many areas). 3-ply black pickguard, thumb rest, and top-loading 4-saddle bridge. Original bridge cover and pickup cover are included.
Weight: 11 lb, 9.6 oz
Neck: Medium profile maple neck with black side dots and pearl dot inlays. 1 5/8” nut width, 34” scale length. Black headstock logo and Fender open gear tuners in perfect functioning condition. Neck heel dates to 1980. Rosewood fingerboard is in phenomenal shape, and frets have a ton of life left in them, with only modest wear for their age. Neck is straight and plays terrific up and down the length of the instrument.
Electronics: Split pickup with dual knurled control knobs, 1x volume, 1x tone.
Case: Original Fender hard shell case included.
