The electronics are all original, and the guitar has a terrific resonance to it, with a nicely worn “natural wood” look thanks to the stripped finish. Professionally inspected and setup by our expert in-house luthiers, this piece will arrive ready to play.
Cosmetic condition: A true blue player, with all kinds of real wear: various scratches, dents, dings, nicks, chips, and scuffs are present, with visible buckle rash on the back of the body. The neck shows visible staining on the front and back, and the back has been sanded down as well. The fingerboard was partially refretted at some point. Frets show considerable wear, and while the guitar does play great up and down the length of the instrument, the action will need to be set higher than normal in order to eliminate fret buzz. The finish has been stripped off the entire body, and there is visible oxidation on the hardware.
Body: Contoured, double cutaway ash body in stripped finish with single ply white pickguard and string through six screw tremolo bridge with individually adjustable saddles. Included tremolo arm is not original.
Weight: 7 lb, 12.3 oz
Neck: Nicely rounded solid maple neck with black side dots, black dot inlays, and walnut skunk stripe. 1 5/8” nut width, 25 1/2" scale length. Chrome sealed Fender tuners work great. Neck has been partially refretted, and frets show wear consistent with age. The fingerboard shows visible staining from use. There is fret buzz present in a few areas, which could be remedied by raising the action, and or by a full refret. Neck is straight and truss rod works fine.
Electronics: Original Fender single coil pickups (Bridge-5.76k ohms, Middle-7.34k ohms, Neck-5.61k ohms) & pots. Both date to ’79. Black skirted knobs, 1x volume, 2x tone. 5-way pickup selector switch and black pickup covers.
Case: Original Fender hard shell case included. Case is in somewhat rough shape (the glue holding the top padding has lost its hold with time), but all latches work and it does the job.
