Description
What’s special about this mandolin: This is a gorgeous sounding and great playing resonator mandolin from the late 70s. It is in very good shape overall and has a very unique sound. This instrument features a wood body with spider style bridge over the resonator and dual screen sound holes on the upper shoulders. The resonator provides plenty of volume and sustain and certainly adds to the overall tonality of the instrument. The sound of the resonator really comes to life the harder the mandolin is played. The playability is very comfortable and the sound is very rich and dynamic!
Condition: Very good shape for the instrument’s age! There are various surface scratches, some small nicks and dings and some consistent weather checking throughout the finish. There are some light surface scratches and blemishing throughout the metal parts but overall there in great shape. Spider bridge and resonator cone function perfectly. The fingerboard and frets are in very good shape with only light play wear and some heavier play wear towards the lower registers. The fingerboard had been re-fretted some time ago and the work was done professionally. The neck is very comfortable with great action up and down the fingerboard and the truss rod functions perfectly. All parts are in perfect working condition.
Body: Double-bound body with maple top, back and sides in sunburst finish. Chrome tailpiece and moon and stars cover plate. Spider bridge over the resonator cone. Dual round screen sound holes.
