Description
A vintage 1973 Marshall model 2060 Mercury hybrid tube combo amp. Offered only by mail order in the UK for a couple years, these amps are quite hard to find in North America. One of Marshall's first forays into solid state amplification, the Mercury has a transistor preamp that drives a single-ended EL84 tube power amp. It has a unique sound to match its unique looks. Plus, it has its original Celestion G12L speaker with the cherished Pulsonic cone. These amps were originally manufactured for UK 230-volt power, so the power transformer was changed to a 120-volt US transformer at some point in time. In addition, based on inconsistencies in the color of the tolex (see photos), this amp may have been partially re-covered. It is otherwise original. This amp has been cleaned, tested and is fully functional.
