Description
Condition: Various scratches, scuffs, nicks, dings and dents throughout the finish. There is some very light corrosion and blemishing on some of the metal components but they are in good shape overall. There are a few deeper scratches just beneath the headstock on the neck but these are merely cosmetic (see photos). Fingerboard and frets have light play wear and plenty of life left in them. The neck has a slight twist in which the treble side which is visible when looking down the neck. The neck is still comfortably playable and the truss rod functions fine. All parts are in perfect working condition.
Body: 11” diameter head with 24 lugs on a metal tension hoop. Metal arm rest, tailpiece and maple-based bridge with Ebony saddle. One-piece metal pot and square 20-hole tone ring. The tone ring does not rest against the head, but this is how it was designed. Single metal coordinator rod. Double-bound mahogany resonator with inlaid rings on the back.
Neck: Thick rounded mahogany neck with bound rosewood fingerboard, pearloid block inlays and a 1 3/16” nut. There are “railroad spikes” on the 7th, 10th and 11th frets for the 5th string. Machine tuners with pearloid buttons, 26.5” scale length.
Weight: 7lbs, 1.5oz.
Playability/Sound: This banjo produces a loud sound with excellent note attack and resonance. The metal pot makes this banjo significantly more light weight than others making playability more comfortable. The neck is very comfortable and ideal for any playing style.
