Description

What makes this guitar special: A first year Professional, built with recording in mind and designed in principle by Les himself. Made alongside the Les Paul Personal, both are notable for their low-impedance pickup systems, 3-way tone switching, phase switching, and decade controls. Both models were discontinued in ’72 with the introduction of the Les Paul Recording. This particular piece has had the clear coat stripped off, giving it a color weathered look-but beyond the finish, it’s in terrific shape. The neck maneuvers smoothly, and plays like a dream. Professionally setup and inspected by our expert in-house luthiers, it’ll arrive ready to play right out of the case.

Cosmetic condition: Great shape for its age, with some standard wear and tear throughout. Various scratches, dents, nicks, dings, chips, and scuffs, along with some light fretwear. The finish has been stripped, and the Gibson logo on the headstock has washed out as well. The pickup selector bushing is unoriginal, as is the input jack. The B-string tuner is a replacement Schaller.

Body: Solid mahogany body with bound mahogany top in stripped walnut finish ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge and fixed tremolo tailpiece.

Weight: 11 lb, 13 oz

Neck: C-shaped 3-piece mahogany neck with black side dots and pearl trapezoid inlays. Bound rosewood fingerboard is in terrific shape and while frets show light wear, they still have plenty of life left in them. 1 11/16” nut width, 24 3/4" scale length. Black headstock overlay with pearl Gibson logo. Les Paul Professional truss rod cover. Original “G” tuners function perfectly. Neck is straight and truss rod is fully functional.

Electronics: Dual low-impedance Gibson pickups with 3-way pickup selector switch, 2-way phase switch, 3-way tone switch, and black speed knobs, 1x decade, 2x volume, 1x tone.

Note: Due to the nature of the low-impedance pickups, this guitar requires an impedance transformer in order to be played through an amplifier at normal volume.

Case: Original hard shell case included. Case is in good shape, but the handle has been replaced.
