Description
A vintage 1968 black line drip edge Fender Bassman amp. This transitional Silverface head features the Blackface-era AB165 circuitry. In addition, several CBS-Era "enhancements" have been removed from the original circuit. The bias circuit has been converted to the standard Blackface bias circuit, so the overall bias level can be adjusted as opposed to just balancing the power tubes. Furthermore, the power amp local feedback resistors and the preamp plate bypass caps have been removed. These tweaks give the amp a smoother break-up and give it back that Fender "sparkle." Finally, the power tubes have been replaced and biased up with a brand new set of 6L6GCMSTRs.
These amps are a great bargain for those players looking for a boutique-quality, handwired amp without the boutique or Blackface price. This Bassman has been cleaned and serviced. It is fully functional and sounds fantastic.
