Description
What makes this bass special: A rare semi-hollow model from the late '60s in a classic sunburst finish. The bass produces a very warm, rich tone & has an absolutely beautiful natural acoustic resonance. The nicely rounded neck is super comfortable to play & the double "blade" pickups sound fantastic. Professionally set up by our luthier & ready to play straight out of the case.
Cosmetic Condition: Good honest play wear for its age - various nicks, chips, dents & dings; surface scratches, weather checking & some light finish wear. Overall the bass has a cool, true vintage vibe with a nice patina.
Neck: Maple neck with nicely aged cream binding & black side-dots. Beautiful rosewood fingerboard with multi-layered pearloid block inlays. Frets show some wear, but have plenty of life in them. Bound headstock with mother of pearl Hofner & floral inlays. Schaller tuners are in perfect working condition. 1 11/16" nut width with zero fret; 30" scale length. Neck is straight & truss is functioning. The neck heel cap is missing.
Body: Double-cutaway, semi-hollow body with bound F-holes. Spruce top with 5-ply binding. Trapeze tailpiece with rosewood bridge. 3-ply black pickguard is in great shape with no cracks. Maple sides & back with 5-ply binding. The back shows off some brilliant flame figuring. Both the top & back are arched. 16 1/4" lower bout width & 2" depth. Bass weighs 6 lbs 13.8 oz.
Pickups/Electronics: Hofner "blade" pickups with black bezels. The 3-way mini toggle switch is a replacement, but the original is included with the bass. Master volume & tone controls are functioning, but the knobs are unoriginal. The Bass Boost & Fuzz Boost electronics are not functioning. It's possible the caps are just worn out, but hard to say for sure. However, both pickups sound great & the bass is very playable.
Case: Original Ess & Ess hardshell case included. The case is a bit rough, with some wear & tear, but serves its purpose well.
