Description
What makes this bass special: A big ol' Gretsch bass with one of the beefiest necks we've ever seen - just a huge chunk of maple, bigger than a baseball bat! There's just something about this bass where everything seems oversized - the body, the neck, even the headstock. But it's just so darn cool, we can't stop loving it. It's got a great vintage vibe & would make the perfect addition to any bass collection.
Cosmetic Condition: The body binding is a little worse for the wear, with lots of cracks & pieces missing. The rest of the bass shows various nicks, chips, dents & dings; surface scratches & weather checking. The hardware has tarnished quite a bit, but all parts are fully functioning. Overall the bass has an authentic vintage look with a gorgeous patina.
Neck: Super chunky, and I mean massive, maple neck with some nice figuring in the back. Thick ebony fingerboard with pearloid dot inlays. Frets are in great shape with hardly any wear. Bound headstock with metal Gretsch nameplate screwed to the front. Huge, sealed tuners are in good working condition. 1 3/4" nut width; 34" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod functions fine.
Body: Double-bound, hollow maple body with simulated F-holes. 'G' cutout tailpiece with Space Control bridge & gold hardware. The string mute is functioning, but the pad has deteriorated. The two white finger/thumb rests are original. Black vinyl back pad is in great shape with all the snaps present. 17" lower bout width; 2" depth. Bass weighs 8 lbs 4.6 oz.
Pickup: FilterTron humbucker with gold bezel that has aged into more of a mint color. Master volume with 'G' arrow logo; 3-way tone switch & standby switch. All electronics are in good working condition.
Case: Unoriginal hardshell case included.
