Description
A vintage 1967 Fender Bassman tube amp head in player-grade condition. This one has an upgraded replacement power transformer--a vintage 1970s Schumacher 022756, most likely pulled from a Twin Reverb or Showman amp. This transformer has identical voltage specs to the original--just more current capacity. It also has a larger footprint than the original, so the chassis cutout was enlarged. Considering that the amp alread had a major alteration, when servicing this amp we chose to convert the bias section from the Silverface-era bias balance circuit to the universally-preferred Blackface-era adjustable bias circuit. Beyond these changes and some fresh power supply filter caps and AC cord, the amp is all original.
60s Bassmans have a well-deserved reputation as workhorse heads. They have a big, neutral clean tone that make them a perfect choice for players that use a lot of pedals. Thanks to the transformer upgrade, you can pick up this Blackface Bassman for a Silverface price! This amp has been serviced and tested. It is fully funcitonal and sounds awesome.
