Description
What makes this guitar special: This gorgeous, 50-year old SG was just recently acquired from the original owner & is 100% original! No repairs or modifications; just a true blue vintage beauty. Killer looks & feel with dynamite tone. Professionally checked over by our vintage expert & set up by our own master luthier. This guitar is a definite must have for any serious collector or player.
Cosmetic Condition: As previously mentioned, this is a one-owner guitar & was his number one "go to" guitar for decades. With that in mind it displays typical play wear, but it was not abused. There are various nicks, chips, dents & dings; surface scratches, weather checking & light finish wear. Again, no repairs or modifications. Overall the guitar has a great look to it with a gorgeous patina. A real winner for sure!
Neck: One-piece, slender mahogany neck with nicely aged cream binding & black side-dots. Beautiful dark rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl trapezoid inlays. Original frets show some wear, but still have plenty of life in them. "Double lip" Kluson Deluxe tuners are in perfect working condition. 1 9/16" nut width; 24 3/4" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod is in good working condition.
Body: One-piece, solid mahogany body. Gibson "lyre" tremolo tailpiece & ABR-1 bridge with adjustable nylon saddles. Chrome hardware. 5-ply. small black pickguard is in great shape with no cracks & only slight warping. Guitar weighs 7 lbs 5.1 oz. Great weight & very resonant!
Pickups: Gibson Patent Number humbuckers with chrome covers & black bezels. One of the bezel screws for the neck humbucker is missing its head. The rest of the screw is still inside the body though. Both pickups register around 8K ohms each & sound amazing with incredible sustain & warmth. Dual volume & tone controls with black "top hat" knobs' 3-way toggle switch. Pots date to '65 & all electronics are in good working condition.
Case: Original hardshell case included, also in great shape. No smoky smell to either the case or guitar.
