Description
What makes this guitar special: 100% original & just recently acquired from the original owner who purchase it new as a kid in '64. The guitar was lovingly cared for these past 50 years & the only thing the previous owner did to it was remove the silver finish from the pickguard. There are no neck or binding issues & the guitar has been completely gone over & set up by our own luthier, so it plays & sounds fantastic! A real gem & must have for any guitar aficionado or Beatles collector.
Cosmetic Condition: Excellent condition for its age & very clean with only light play wear - various minor nicks, chips, dents & dings; surface scratches, light buckle rash & mild weather checking. Overall the guitar has a cool, true vintage look with a beautiful patina.
Neck: Semi-chunky maple neck with some light flame figuring. Nicely aged cream binding with red side-dots. Dark Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with pearloid 'thumbnail' inlays. Frets do show some play wear, but still have plenty of life in them. Open-back nickel tuners are in perfect working condition. 1 11/16" nut width with zero fret; 24 3/4" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod is functioning.
Body: Single-cutaway, hollow maple body with top binding & simulated F-holes. Bigsby tremolo tailpiece with floating Rocking Bar bridge. Clear plexi pickguard with silver Gretsch logo. Although the silver finish was removed from the guard, it's in great shape with no cracks. Guitar weighs 7 lbs 2.4 oz.
Pickups: Gretsch HiLo Tron single coils with silver bezels. Master volume & individual pickup volume controls with "G" Arrow knobs. 3-way pickup & tone selector switches with 3-way standby switch. All electronics are in perfect working condition.
Case: Original hardshell case included. The case is a little rough with some small tears in the tolex, structurally it's sturdy & all the latches are present.
