Description
What makes this guitar special: A tastefully modded, true vintage beauty with killer looks & dynamite tone. The original single coil pickup was replaced with a Seymour Duncan Melody Maker Humbucker, which sounds absolutely amazing in this guitar, providing higher gain with more attack.
Cosmetic Condition: Good honest play wear - various nicks, chips, dents & dings; surface scratches, weather checking & some buckle rash. The numbers 2070 are scratched in the base of the neck where it joins the body. Overall the guitar has a great, well-played look to it with a gorgeous patina.
Neck: Wide, semi-chunky, one-piece mahogany neck with cream side-dots. Beautifully figured Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl dot inlays. Original frets are in great shape with hardly any wear. Repro Kluson Deluxe tuners are in perfect working condition. 1 11/16" nut width; 24 3/4" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod is functioning.
Body: Double-cutaway, solid, one-piece mahogany body in sunburst finish. Compensated, wrap-around nickel bridge. Single-ply, black plexi pickguard with white Melody Maker logo in good condition. The guard shows various scratches & pick wear, but no cracks or breaks. Guitar weighs 5 lbs 10.3 oz.
Pickup: The original bridge single coil (7.31K ohms) was replaced with a Seymour Duncan Melody Maker Humbucker - 16.01K ohms. No routs were required for the replacement pickup & the original can easily be put back, but the Duncan sounds so awesome we decided to leave it in. Master volume & tone controls with gold "top hat" knobs. Both pots date to '64 & all electronics are in perfect working condition.
Case: Unoriginal hardshell case included.
