Description
Condition: This is an excellent sounding pedal steel that has been modified and would be perfect for someone who may want to add more knee levers or foot pedals. The finish has been stripped and over-sprayed with a clear coat exposing the beautiful natural wood grain. The bridge cover and string mute mechanism are both missing. The knee levers and several cables have been added. The undercarriage will need to be reassembled as many of the parts are disconnected or the wires are overlapping. All mechanical parts will require some cleaning work and fine tuning as some of the parts have some corrosion or small amounts of rust. Some re-soldering work has been done and the electronics are in perfect working condition. Both pots date to 1964. One tuning machine has been replaced with a small route made in the console to fit the larger gears (see photos). Some areas of the headstock cavity were partially routed prior to the over-spray. This will be a great partial project for someone and an ideal way to put together a customized instrument at an affordable price. There are various scratches, nicks, dings and dents throughout the instrument with some blemishing on the metal parts.
Body: Solid wood console in natural finish with steel casing around the entire console. The center of the console is raised for the bridge, neck and tuners. Chrome tailpiece with 10 metal saddles, chrome control plate and knurled controls knobs. The console features four legs and a front pedal panel also stripped of its finish and over-sprayed.
Neck: Raised neck with metal fingerboard painted black with white frets and fret markers. 3.5” metal roller nut. Slotted metal peg head with Kluson Deluxe Single Stripe tuners. 23” scale length.
Pickups/Electronics: Single coil pickup with master volume and tone controls.
Pickup: 0.65K Ohms.
Playability/Sound: The pickup sounds excellent on this pedal steel. This instrument will be perfect for modification as several have already been done. This gives the next owner the opportunity to have the instrument set up to their exact specifications and needs. This piece has nothing but potential to be a great sounding vintage player’s grade pedal steel guitar!
Case: Includes original hardshell case. The case has been spray painted black over the entire exterior. All latches are in perfect working condition.
