What’s special about this guitar: This is a gorgeous 1964/65 Gretsch Chet Atkins Tennessean in great shape for its age! It is super clean overall with mostly only weather checking throughout the finish! The vintage HiLoTron pickups sound stellar. These pickups sound particularly bright and clear and have a definite vintage sound. The neck is exceptionally comfortable on this piece. It really makes anything from fingerstyle to chords and lead work very easy to play. The wood grain on this guitar is also quite nice. There is some very subtle flame figuring throughout areas of the top and back that gives the guitar a great look!
Condition: Great shape overall! There is light weather checking and a few small scratches, nicks, dings and dents throughout the finish. Overall it is very clean for its age! The binding has shrunk and cracked in some areas but there are no areas with very heavy binding rot. The fingerboard and frets are in very good shape with only moderate play wear and plenty of life left in them. The neck is super comfortable with great action up and down the fingerboard and the truss rod functions perfectly. There are a few small hairline finish cracks in the headstock overlay and the wood is chipped around the A string tuning machine. There are no intonation issues whatsoever. The bridge, one switch tip and the tuners are unoriginal. The original bridge is included in the case however. All electronics and parts are in perfect working condition.
Body: Hollow body with a bound maple top and maple back and sides in burgundy finish. The top finish has faded very nicely giving the guitar a beautiful and authentic vintage look and vibe! Bigsby tailpiece with a roller bridge. Gretsch Arrow control knobs, simulated f-holes and a silver pickguard.
Neck: Super comfortable and very nicely rounded maple neck with a bound rosewood fingerboard. Pearloid thumbnail inlays, a zero-fret and a 1 ¾” nut. Grover tuners, 24.5” scale length.
Pickups/Electronics: Original HiLoTron pickups in the neck and bridge with dual volume controls, master volume control, on/off switch, 3-way tone switch and a 3-way selector switch.
Neck: 3.09K Ohms.
Bridge: 3.03K Ohms.
