Description
Condition: This is a great sounding vintage Vega with a great look, feel and sound. Various surface scratches, small nicks, dings and weather checking give this instrument a beautiful and authentic vintage look. There are some very small finish cracks throughout the finish. These are all very minor and do not go through the wood. There is some blemishing and light areas of corrosion on the metal parts. Currently there is a Grover tuning machine on the 5th string which has some play, but functions fine overall. The neck has a small amount of relief around the middle but is mostly straight. Fingerboard and frets have moderate play wear and tons of life left in them. Truss rod and coordinator rods work fine.
Body: 11” diameter head with 24 lugs on a nickel tension hoop. Nickel arm rest, tailpiece and a 4-piece flange. Newer compensated saddle. Laminate maple pot with dual metal coordinator rods and a Tub-a-Phone tone ring with barbell holes. Double-bound flame maple resonator with gorgeous figuring in sunburst finish.
Neck: Nicely rounded maple neck with mahogany strip down the center. Bound Ebony fingerboard with pearloid inlays and a 1 3/16” nut. Headstock features pearloid Vega logo with star. Nickel tuners with ivoroid buttons, 27” scale length.
Weight: 9lbs, 13.5oz.
Playability/Sound: This is a great sounding banjo. The notes ring out clear and have a nice warm overall sound with great pick attack. The neck is exceptionally comfortable and suitable for virtually any playing style.
Case: Includes original hardshell case.
