What makes this guitar special: Talk about ingenuity! These Ampeg BB-4’s were a major building block in the transformation of the upright bass, and sport many unique design appointments that far exceed what you’d expect for the period they were built in. The uvex plastic body is fully insulated with foam to completely eliminate feedback, and is fitted with a very straightforward transducer pickup and 1/4" input with dual control knobs. This cello sized body is also fitted with a solid maple neck and ebony fingerboard, for the traditional playability of an upright bass, but packed into a smaller package. This one has been fully inspected and is functioning properly. It will ship in a contemporary ampeg gigbag, ready to play as soon as you get your hands on it.
Cosmetic condition: Great condition for its age, with various signs of wear throughout. There are visible scratches, nicks, dings, dents, scuffs, and chips throughout the body, with some light seam separation along the edges of the uvex body in a few places and one repaired crack on the lower bass side of the body. There is some finish wear on the back of the neck and some paint chipping on the scroll, along with some chipping in the wood above the nut.
Body: Two-piece foam insulated plastic body in sunburst finish with faux wood detailing. Diecast bridge with top mounted input jack and control plate. Original Ampeg tailpiece and adjustable foot.
