What makes this guitar special: 100% original & just recently acquired from the original owner, whose father gave it to her as a gift back in '54 when she was 14. She's had it in her possession ever since & took very good care of it all these years. Aside from two very minor top cracks caused by the pickguard, the guitar is in great shape. One thing we did notice is the bridge seems to be a little off center, as the high E string is a bit closer to the edge of the fingerboard than the low E string. The guitar is of course quite playable, but not perfectly built at the factory. Gorgeous looks with a loud, resonant tone. A true vintage beauty!
Cosmetic Condition: Great shape for its age. The sunburst finish is still quite vibrant & the pickguard has no cracks. There are two very minor cracks in the top between the pickguard & soundhole. Both cracks were professionally repaired & cleated. They are stable with no movement. Throughout the guitar you'll notice minor nicks & dings along with mild surface scratches & light finish checking.
Neck: Semi-chunky maple neck with some gorgeous flame figuring. Nicely aged cream binding with tortoise side-dots. Beautiful Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl crown inlays. Frets are in great shape with hardly any wear. Bound headstock with Custom truss rod cover. Gold Kluson Deluxe tuners are in perfect working condition. The B tuner is slightly bent, but still functions properly. 1 11/16" nut width; 25 1/2" scale length.
Body: Jumbo size body with wide grain, solid spruce top & 7-ply binding. Rosewood mustache bridge with mother of pearl inlays. There's a very tiny gap between the ends of the bridge & the top of the guitar, but the bridge is firmly attached to the top & has never been off. Tortoise pickguard with hand painted floral motif. Solid maple back & sides with nice flame figuring in the sides along with some pretty birdseye figuring in the back. 5-ply back binding with geometric center strip. The guitar is very light weight at only 4 lbs 13.9 oz.
