Description
Description: Vintage 1953 National Chicagoan Lap Steel Electric Guitar
Condition: Very good overall. Various light surface scratches, nicks and dings throughout the instrument. There is some rust and blemishing on the metal parts but this is only cosmetic. Fingerboard is in great shape with very light play wear. All electronics and parts are original and in perfect working condition.
Please Note: This lap steel requires an amphenol cable to work. It does include one but the signal cuts in and out so it will likely need to be replaced.
Body: Solid body with rounded bottom and graduated scooped shoulders to the neck in a grey pearloid finish. Metal tailpiece/bridge/control plate with cream control knobs and a black plastic pickup cover.
Neck: Square neck in grey pearloid finish. White fingerboard with black frets and numbered musical note markers with a plexi overlay. 1 15/16” nut, three-on-a-strip nickel tuners with ivoroid buttons, 23” scale length.
Pickups/Electronics: Original single coil pickup with master volume and tone controls.
Pickup: 5.57K Ohms.
Weight: 5lbs, 9.5oz.
Playability/Sound: This lap steel has excellent output and ringing clarity. The tone control can be used to dial in anything from a bright sound with plenty of attack to a warm, mellow sound. The neck width is very comfortable and suitable for any playing style.
Case: Includes original hardshell case in somewhat rough condition. The back end of the case is missing but all latches are in perfect working order (see photos).
