Description

A vintage 1950 Gibson GA-30 tube combo amp in player-grade condition. This amp has been heavily altered cosmetically. In addition it has been modified with the addition of an all-tube tremolo. Typically, we revert modified vintage amps back to stock. However, given this amp has been altered beyond collectibility and give that the tremolo mod sounds fantastic, we decided to leave the mods in place. The instrument channel has been removed, and the one remaining instrument jack now acts as the jack for an optional tremolo footswitch. The tremolo speed and intensity controls have been placed in the chassis holes for the other two intrument inputs. In addition, the Mic channel has been converted the Instrument circuit, so the bass/treble expander can still be utilized.

All in all this amp is an exceptional player. It has been fully serviced with a power supply re-cap (F&T Electrolytics), and the original leaky signal caps have been replaced with Mallory 150s. The AC cord has been replaced with a modern grounded cord. Sound-wise, it has a thick, woody clean tone with plenty of chime. This turns into a pleasant tweed-y overdrive as you turn up the volume. This will make an awesome recording amp...great for blues, rock or jazz. It has been cleaned and serviced. It is fully functional and sounds great.
