Description
Condition: This is an exceptionally rare lap steel guitar and it sounds phenomenal. There are scratches, nicks, dings and finish chips throughout the instrument. One of the dot inlays is missing. The neck has some scratches and there are some stocker ghosts along the fingerboard. The tuners are unoriginal and required drilling new holes. They extend past the end of the headstock but they function fine. The ACE logo appears to have worn off a long time ago. The pickup shows a relatively low ohm reading but has great output and sounds excellent. All electronics and parts are in great working condition.
Body: Guitar shaped Bakelite body in maroon finish. String-through body design with Bakelite bridge and pickup cover. Dual white plastic control knobs. There is a Rickenbacker logo just beneath the fingerboard (see photos).
Neck: Square Bakelite neck with raised white frets, white dot inlays and a 2 1/8” Bakelite nut. Nickel three-on-a-strip tuners with ivoroid buttons. 22.5” scale length.
Pickups/Electronics: Single coil pickup with master volume and tone controls.
Pickup: 1.81K Ohms.
Weight: 6lbs, 1.0oz.
Playability/Sound: This lap steel has ringing clarity and bell-like chime. The pickup sounds amazing and can be very bright or nice and warm depending on where the tone control is set. This is a very rare model and the first one we have seen in the shop.
Case: Includes vintage chipboard case in rough condition. Two of the hinges are broken, the top is separating and the handle is missing.
