Description: Circa 1930s Vintage Trujo Style A Plectrum Banjo Made by Gibson USA
Condition: Very good overall. This is a great example of a rare Trujo banjo. Various nicks, dings and dents throughout the instrument. Metal parts have light blemishing. There is one crack in the metal side of the resonator though this does not affect playability. Fingerboard and frets have very light play wear. There is a small number scratched into the side of the pot which is not highly noticeable. All parts are in perfect working condition.
Body: 11” diameter head with 24 lugs on a brass tension hoop. Brass arm rest and tailpiece with a one-piece tube flange on a solid wood pot. Trujo-patented magephone tone ring and a single metal coordinator rod. Dual concentric rings and brass side on the resonator. There are two serial numbers on the pot. One on the rim reading: “3176-A” and one on the inside of the pot reading: “9279-67”.
Neck: Round neck with bound ebony fingerboard, pearloid inlays and a 1 1/8” nut. Famous Gargoyle peg head with Grover friction tuners, 26.5” scale length.
Set Up: Professionally set up with light gauge banjo strings.
Weight: 10lbs, 15oz.
Playability/Sound: This is a somewhat rare Trujo banjo. These were made by Gibson for Truett and George of San Francisco. The materials used and craftsmanship are truly exceptional and give this instrument top notch playability and sound. The patented Mehaphone tone ring produces a loud yet defined sound with a concise attack that resonates beautifully.
Case: Includes original hardshell case. String mute mechanism is included in the case.
