Description
What makes this guitar special: An ultra rare Epiphone tenor made for only a very short time in the late '20s. This super cool vintage guitar has a banjo resonator style body with round soundhole. Solid spruce top with walnut back & sides and a gorgeous, ornate headstock overlay. Light-weight with warm, rich tones & a beautiful resonance.
Cosmetic Condition: A few minor cosmetic issues, but a true survivor. There are a couple of top cracks that were professionally repaired & are quite stable. The neck appears to have been reset, but is also very stable with no playability issues. The tailpiece cover is missing & the pickguard is a replacement. Throughout the rest of the guitar you'll notice various minor nicks, chips, dents & dings; surface scratches, weather checking & some finish wear. Overall the guitar has a great look to it with a gorgeous patina.
Neck: Mahogany neck with nicely aged ivoroid binding & black side-dots. Rosewood fingerboard with pearloid dot inlays. Original frets show some light wear, but have plenty of life in them. Ornate pearloid headstock overlay with Epiphone & Inspiration banner logos, floral motif with the 'A' marking. Grover Pat Pend banjo tuners are in good working condition. 1 1/8" nut width; 23" scale length.
Body: Round, banjo-style body with bound soundhole. Solid spruce top with 3-ply black/white/black binding. Nickel tailpiece with ebony bridge. Unoriginal tortoise pickguard & 3-ply rosette. Walnut back & sides also with 3-ply binding. 13 3/4" diameter body with 3 1/4" depth. There is no visible serial number & no pickup. Guitar weighs 2 lbs 13.5 oz.
Case: There is no case for the guitar, but we will attempt to find something appropriate for shipping, however, there are no guarantees.
