What’s special about this guitar: This is a beautiful sounding Martin DC-16GTE with very comfortable playability. This guitar does have several large cracks which have been repaired and a large chunk of wood broken out of the headstock but these make the guitar a great player’s grade piece. Considering the guitars condition it would be a great travel guitar as it already has some wear and tear. The repairs were done professionally so the guitar is structurally solid but due to the repairs the guitar is also quite affordable. This piece has a very warm sound and the wood already sounds like it has matured.
Condition: This is a great sounding player’s grade acoustic. There are several repaired cracks throughout the guitar including three large cracks on the side, one on top beneath the bridge and one un-repaired crack on the cutaway. This crack has plenty of bracing beneath it so it has not been glued further and is not opening up. The binding has shrunk slightly around this crack but is still holding together. There is a large chunk/chip out of the wood on the corner of the headstock. This is really only cosmetic as it does not affect the tuners or playability. Cosmetically there are various scratches, nicks, dings, dents and chips throughout the guitar. There is some slight bellying on the top but it is very minor and not causing any major issues. The fingerboard and frets have only light play wear and plenty of life left in them. The truss rod and electronics function perfectly.
Body: double-bound single cutaway body with a spruce top and mahogany back and sides in natural finish. Ebony bridge with a compensated saddle, tortoise pickguard and a herringbone rosette.
Neck: Very nicely rounded mahogany neck with a Richlite fingerboard. Pearloid dot inlays and a 1 11/16” nut. Martin tuners, 25.4” scale length.
Pickups/Electronics: Martin Fishman Prefix preamp system with controls for bass, contour, treble, frequency, blend, phase, notch and volume.
