The G&L ASAT Classic "S" is a factory-modded version of Leo's final word on the traditional single cutaway bolt-on axe. First created in 2004 by the G&L Custom Creations team, the ASAT Classic "S" later joined the line as a standard model in 2008. The basic idea for this kind of arrangement has been long established in the Nashville session player scene, where players often install a Strat pickup in the middle position of a Telecaster & swap the 3-position pickup selector with a 5-way unit. Back in 2004, The Custom Creations Department decided to build an instrument similar to the formula adopted by the Nashville guys, but with a distinctly G&L flavor. The CCD team iced the cake with a push/pull tone pot that functions the same way as the S-500's mini-toggle switch, enabling additional pickup combinations of neck+bridge or all three pickups together for a unique sonic depth that G&L players love. Professionally set up with fresh strings & low action so it's ready to play straight out of the case.
Cosmetic Condition: Excellent condition - very clean with only some mild surface scratches.
Neck: Modern Classic hard rock maple neck with 9.5" radius maple fingerboard & black dot inlays. 22 Medium Jumbo frets are clean with no wear. G&L Standard tuners with single string tree. 1 11/16" nut width; 25 1/2" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod works perfectly.
Body: Solid swamp ash body finished in Butterscotch Blonde. Boxed-steel string-thru bridge with six adjustable brass saddles & single-ply black pickguard. Guitar weighs 8 lbs 5.8 oz.
Electronics: G&L ASAT Classic Alnico single coils in the neck & bridge; CLF -100 Alnico 5 single coil reverse-wound in the middle with 5-way selector switch. Master volume & tone controls with knurled dome knobs. The volume knob is push/pull & all electronics are in perfect working condition.
Case: Original hardshell case included along with COA & spec sheet.
