Description

A 2005 Fuchs Lucky 7 head in player-grade condition. This one has been around the block. It came to us with multiple circuit mods and an improperly-installed replacement output tranformer. We've since returned the circuit to stock and cleaned up the wiring. The amp now sings like it was intended to.

The Lucky 7 combines a Trainwreck-inspired preamp with a low-wattage, single-ended output stage. The crunchy, sustain-heavy Trainwreck sound coupled with the added harmonics of a single-ended power amp results in an incredibly dense overdrive tone. The output stage is spec'd for either an EL34 or 6V6 (rebiasing required). After play-testing both, we chose the 6V6 for its slight volume reduction and an overall tone that was a little less "squishy."

Overall, this will make a great little amp for recording or small club gigs. It has been cleaned and serviced. It is fully functional and sounds fantastic.

From Fuchs...

The Lucky 7 is based on a dual 12AX7 preamp stage and a unique single ended 7-watt EL-34 fixed bias output stage. By switching to a 6V6, you can reduce power to less than 5-watts. Unlike other amps in this price range, the Lucky 7 has a full compliment of extremely flexible tone controls. A surprising amount of clean headroom is available before the output stage begins distorting with a sweet yet cutting rock edge. Voiced like its bigger siblings the Train 45 and Blackjack 21, the Lucky 7 has a classic rock voice similar to a vintage Marshall or Trainwreck style amp. It provides a cutting rock edge, yet filled with harmonic richness and chime. The circuit design also is "attenuator friendly". The Lucky 7 has a preamp stage designed to allow clean-to-mean from the guitar volume control.
