Description
The Fernandes APB90 is an ultra-versatile PJ bass with tons of tones on tap. Equipped with active F.G.I. technology pickups and a 2-band EQ, this bass sounds great in a wide variety of genres, from punk rock to jazz fusion, from thrash metal to indie pop. We believe it to be made in Japan between the late '80s and the mid-'90s, and its solid craftsmanship shows. This bass is an excellent choice for players seeking a well-made, affordable axe that can cover a broad tonal spectrum.
Cosmetic Condition: This bass is in good condition, featuring numerous dings, dents, and scratches from regular use that don't interfere with performance. As pictured, there is a large dent on the lower bout by the controls and four blemishes below the bridge where someone may have attempted to install a different bridge. The finish is a gorgeous transparent black that beautifully showcases the ash body, and in certain lightings, it almost has a blue/purple tint.
Neck: Maple neck with 24 fret rosewood fingerboard and dot inlays. The frets are in great shape with no wear, the tuners turn smoothly without resistance, and the neck is straight with a fully functioning truss rod. The neck feels similar to a Fender Jazz bass, thanks to its 34" scale and 1.5" nut width - but it's a bit flatter, lending itself to dexterous playing and demanding techniques.
Body: This bass features an ash body, giving it an elegant aesthetic with an eye-catching wood grain. It also provides a highly resonant, sweet tone, characterized by well-defined mids and a strong low-end. Weighs 8 lbs. 1 oz.
Electronics: Powering the APB90 is a pair of active F.G.I. Technology PJ pickups. These pickups have a balanced, articulate sound with a nice dose of growl and can adapt to any performance setting with the onboard Master Volume, Pickup Balancer, Bass EQ, and Treble EQ. Whether you're seeking that James Jamerson thump or that Robert Trujillo 'clank,' these pickups are more than capable of delivering the goods. All electronics are in good working condition.
